Efficient electrocardiogram signal compression algorithm using dual encoding technique

<span>In medical practices, the storage space of electrocardiogram (ECG) records is a major concern. These can contain hours recording, necessitating large amount space. This problem commonly addressed by compressing ECG signal. The proposed work deal with signal compression method for signals using discrete wavelet transform (DWT). DWT appeared as powerful tools to compact and shows in another time-frequency representation. It very appropriate elimination &amp; removal redundancy. are decomposed DWT. After that, coefficients that result from threshold depending on energy packing efficiency (EPE) achieved quantization dual encoding techniques (run-length Huffman encoding). technique compresses data significantly. better performance ratios good quality reconstructed signals. For example, ratio (CR)=20.6, 10.7 11.1 percent root mean square difference (PRD)=1%, 0.9% 1% different (Haar, db2 FK4) Respectively.</span>
